General Purpose
The accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze
financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure
appropriate accounting control procedures and general accounting including preparing journal
entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers and account and bank reconciliations.
Assisting with monthly closings and account analysis and ensuring that the responsibilities of the
accounting department are taken care of timely and accurately under the overall supervision of
the Secretary of the organization or the staff assigned for the purpose by the organization.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
1. compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including
monthly and annual accounts
2. ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and
procedures
3. ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
4. prepare financial management reports
5. ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
6. establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control
procedures
7. resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
8. continuous management and support of budget and forecast activities
9. monitor and support taxation issues
10. develop and maintain financial data bases
11. financial audit preparation and coordinate the audit process
12. ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
13. analyze and advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends,
financial commitments and future revenues
14. analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and
procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and
financial problems
Education and Experience
1. accounting degree or equivalent
2. knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles
3. knowledge of auditing practices and principles
4. knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
5. knowledge and experience of related computer applications such as Tally 7.2, MS Excel
etc.
6. usually a minimum of 3 years experience in accounting, management of financial
systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, taxation and providing
financial advice
